d Amundsen was launched in 1952 and is a Class A Brig, named after the Norwegian explorer - who was the 1st person to reach the geographical South Pole in 1911. The ship is registered in Germany with a homeport in Eckernförde. The ship can take 31 trainees and 17 crew on board, and the sail number is TSG 508. Weighing 252 tonnes, Roald Amundsen has a black, steel hull measuring 40.80 metres out of a total length, including the bowsprit, of 50.20 metres. The ship has competed in Tall Ships Races in 2017, 2019 & 2022.
